How many cars will be on the grid in 2020?

So this article will be going over how many cars there will be on the grid in 2020.

So, first off, the teams that have shrunk in size.

Firstly, Kelly Racing has shrunk from 4 cars to 2, while Garry Rodgers has wound up his team. This leaves 4 Racing Entitlements Contracts up for grabs.

It is understood that several teams are expanding next year. These are
Matt Stone Racing (1 car to 2 cars)
Team 18 (1 car to 2 cars)
Tekno Autosports (1 car to 2 cars)
and finally Brad Jones Racing (3 cars to 4 cars)

So, it does look like we will have at least 24 cars on the grid in 2020.
However, we may have an expansion to the field compared to 2019, depending on the Kostecki Brothers can get enough funding to run the full season.

The other thing we're going to talk about in this article is the Racing Entitlement Contract (REC) shuffle.
Kelly Racing (KR) sold one of their REC's to Matt Stone Racing (MSR), which allowed MSR to give their REC back to Brad Jones Racing (BJR) so BJR can expand to 4 cars in 2020.
The other KR REC was sold to Team 18 (T18) so T18 can expand to 2 cars.
Garry Rodgers Motorsport (GRM) has sold their first REC to MSR so MSR can expand to 2 cars, while the other REC was sold to Tekno Autosports (TA) so TA can also expand to 2 cars.

Finally, if the Kostecki Brothers can get enough funding to go full-time in 2020, will buy either the 3rd Red Bull Racing REC or the 4th Tickford Racing REC, both of which were returned at the end of 2017.

So, provisionally, we have definitely 23 cars on the grid, likely 24, and hopefully 25 on the grid in 2020. I'm wondering why Super Black Racing haven't tried to make a comeback again, probably money TBH, though Chris Pither's sponsor(s) may be able to sponsor him.
