Flat Tire leaves Chaz Mostert last at Townsville

Chris Pither picked up his 7th last-place finish of his career when his #22 Coca-Cola Holden finished under power, on the Lead Lap in the first round of the double-header at Townsville. The finish came in Pither’s 90th start.


Chris Pither has been in and out of the series for a few years now but is on his 2nd full-time season. He was 5th out of the 6 who participated in the Rookie Practice and was 17th in Practice 1. He slipped to 18th in Practice 2, then dropped to 21st in Qualifying.


Alex Davison in the #19 Local Legends Holden started the race in the rear, but by lap 2 Chris Pither in the #22 Coca-Cola Holden had fallen to the rear.


Pitstops start on lap 7 and Scott McLaughlin in the #17 Shell V-Power Ford pitted and dropped to last. Followed on Lap 8 by his team-mate Fabian Coulthard in the #12 Shell V-Power Holden after a bad pitstop. He was followed by Mark Winterbottom in the #18 Irwin Tools/Fuchs Holden after his pitstop pn lap 11.

Lap 17 sees Macauley Jones in the #3 Cooldrive Distribution Holden pit and drop to last, followed the next lap by Jack Smith in the #4 SCT Logistics Holden. Chris Pither in the #22 Coca-Cola Holden then pitted on lap 20 and fell to the rear, which he held for the remainder of the race.


Rounding out the Bottom Five was Jack Smith in the #4 SCT Logistics Holden, Alex Davison in the #19 Local Legends Holden, Zane Goddard in the #34 UNIT Holden and Rick Kelly in the #15 Castrol Ford.
