First Lap contact leaves Jack LeBrocq last at Albert Park

Original by Supercars, edited by me.
Jack LeBrocq picked up the 14th last-place finish of his career when his #9 TFH/Unsecured Finance Chevrolet was involved in a 2-car crash that ended his race without completing a single lap of the final race at Albert Park. The finish came in his 213th start.

Jack LeBrocq is in his 7th full-time season and is one of the five drivers who came through in 2018 alongside Richie Stanaway, Anton De Pasquale, Todd Hazelwood and James Golding. Technically, Jack is one of only two drivers who have had a ride through his seven years, with Stanaway and Golding in their second entry into the main game, which Hazelwood was called up at the last minute to Erebus Motorsports to cover Brodie Kostecki after the latter stopped racing unexpectedly. Jack LeBrocq started at Tekno Autosports, then switched to Tickford Racing for 2020 and 2021, where he won his first race. LeBrocq then moved to Matt Stone Racing in 2022. In 2023, he won his second race before moving to Erebus Motorsports in 2024.

Andre Heimgartner in the #8 R&J Batteries Chevrolet started the race in the rear. A Did not Start for Anton De Pasquale in the #11 Shell V-Power Ford after his car suffered a right-rear Suspension failure. Mark Winterbottom in the #18 DeWalt Chevrolet fell to last, followed by Jaxon Evans in the #12 SCY Logistics Chevrolet.

Jack LeBrocq in the #9 TFH/Unsecured Finance Chevrolet had contact with Thomas Randle in the #55 Castrol Ford and Cameron Hill in the #4 Tyrepower/Supa Glass Chevrolet, breaking the steering on the car, sending him to the garage and dropping him to last.

The other retirement from this race was Cameron Hill in the #4 Tyrepower/Supa Glass Chevrolet after he was spun off the track by Ryan Wood in the #2 Truck Assist/NTI Ford. A 30-second time penalty for Ryan Wood would leave him in the bottom 5. Rounding out the Bottom Five was Bryce Fullwood in the #14 Middy’s Electrical Chevrolet after a penalty and Macauley Jones in the #96 Spongebob Squarepants/Pizza Hut Chevrolet.

Crash while fighting for the lead leaves Matt Payne last at Albert Park

Original by Supercars, edited and screenshot by me

Matt Payne picked up the 1st last-place finish of his career when his #19 Penrite Oils Ford was involved in a 2-car crash that ended his race after 1 of 10 laps. The finish came in Payne's 34th start.

Matt Payne is in his 2nd full-time season after a standout year, which included a victory at the final race in Adelaide. Payne has continued his form into 2024 with back-to-back podiums at Albert Park. He was 2nd in Practice 1 but dropped to 6th in Practice 2. Payne then qualified on the pole.

Macauley Jones in the #96 Spongebob Squarepants Chevrolet started the race in the rear. After a multi-car incident at Turn 4, Andre Heimgarner in the #8 R&J Batteries Chevrolet was sent to the rear.

At the end of Lap 3, battling for the lead, Cameron Waters in the #6 Monster Energy Ford bumped Matt Payne in the #19 at the second to last corner. Heading into the final corner, Payne attempts to block Waters. Payne and Waters make contact, sending both cars into the fence and out of the race. The crash left Payne last.

Rounding out the Bottom Five was Thomas Randle in the #55 Castrol Ford after struggling with Gearbox issues, Bryce Fullwood in the #14 Middy's Electrical Chevrolet after a late-race incident and Andre Heimgartner in the #8 R&J Batteries Chevrolet after being pushed off the road on the first lap.
