Engine failure leaves Garry Jacobson last at Ipswich

Garry Jacobson picked up his 4th last-place finish of his career when his #3 Rabble.Club Nissan retired with Engine issues after 49 of the race's 65 laps. The finish came in Jasobson's 27th start.

Garry Jacobson is the other rookie in the 2019 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship. He was 16th in Practice 1, then improved to 13th in Practice 2. He plunged to 21st in Practice 3, and slipped to 23rd in Practice 4. Finally, he improved to 21st in Qualifying.

Tim Slade in the #14 Freighliner Holden started the race in the rear after being disqualified from Qualifying due to breaking Park Ferme rules, but Nick Percat in the #8 - Holden fell to the rear after a clutch drama at the start. Soon, however, Jack LeBrocq in the #19 Truck Assist Holden fell to last.

LeBrocq held last until lap 8 when Fabian Coulthard in the #12 Shell V-Power Ford and Anton De Pasquale in the #99 Penrite Oils Holden at turn 4, sending Coulthard to last.

Pitstops then started on lap 9. Over the next several laps, last was exchanged between Lee Holdsworth in the #5 Bottle-O Ford on lap 9, Scott Pye in the #2 - Call Holden on lap 12, Simona De Silvestro in the #78 Harvey Norman Nissan, then finally LeBrocq returned to last on lap 17.

LeBrocq held last until the second set of pitstops started, and on lap 34 Pye returned to last. The following lap Slade returned to last in his pit-stop. Macauley returned to last the following lap during his pit-stop, then LeBrocq returned to last on lap 42.

Om lap 51 Garry Jacobson in the #3 Rabble.club Nissan pulled into the garage with engine troubles, dropping him to last.

Rounding out the Bottom 5 was Jack LeBrocq in the #19 Trick Assist Holden, Macauley Jones in the #21 Cooldrive Distribution Holden, David Reynolds in the #9 Penrite Oils Holden after a pit-stop error forced him to pit for the 3rd time on Lap 61, and Michael Caurso in the #33 Boost Mobile Holden.
