Post-Race Exclusion leaves Reynolds and Baird last at Sandown

David Reynolds picked up his 7th last-place finish of his career, while Craig Baird picked up his 9th last-place finish of his career when their #90 Penrite Holden was disqualified post-race because Craig Baird didn’t run enough laps after -141 of 143 laps. The finish came in Reynolds’ 220th start and Baird’s 166th start.

Jack LeBrocq started the race in the rear in the #6 Castrol/Monster Energy Ford, however at turn 1 James Golding in the #34 Valvoline/Wilson Security Volvo and Jack Perkins in the #22 SP Tools Holden, and heading into turn 7 a tire let go in James Golding’s Volvo, causing the car to go straight into the tire wall at 150kph (approx 93mph), destroying the right-front on car #34, ending his race and triggering a 28-minute red-flag while the damage to the tire wall was repaired.

Next to fall out was Cameron Waters and Jack LeBrocq in the #6 Castrol/Monster Energy Ford after car #6 started blowing smoke out the back of the car on lap 92. He then hit the wall at turn 4 on lap 100. Waters headed to the garage on lap 101, and dropped to 25th on lap 102, however, post-race David Reynolds and Craig Baird in the #9 Penrite Holden was excluded from the race because Craig Baird only completed 52 laps, whereas the minimum required laps for a co-driver is 54 laps.

Rounding out the bottom five was Mark Winterbottom and Dean Canto in the #1 Bottle-O Ford due to hitting the tires in turn 4 on lap 56, triggering the second safety car of the race, dropping 2 laps, eventually finishing 5 laps down, Shae Davies and Chris Van der Drift in the #4 Penrite Holden and Andrew Jones and Jason Bright in the #8 BOC Holden after a flat tire on lap 76.

Contact and bogging leaves Waters last in Second Qualifying race

Cameron Waters picked up his 1st Sprint for the Grid last-place finish of his career when his #6 Castrol/Monster Energy Ford finished under power, two laps down in the second Sprint for the Grid at Sandown. The finish came in Water’s 4th sprint.

Chris Pither in the #111 Ice Break Ford started the race in the rear after being excluded from the previous qualifying race, however he almost immediately jumped Jason Bright in the #8 BOC Holden after he stalled briefly at the start.

Suddenly on the way to turn 2 Cameron Waters in the #6 Castrol/Monster Energy Ford went 3 wide with teammate Chazz Mostert in the #55 Supercheap Auto Holden and James Moffat in the #34 Valvoline/Wilson Security Volvo, leading to contact between Waters and Moffat, destroying the tire on car #6 and leaving him bogged, falling too last and bringing out the only Safety Car of the race.

Rounding out the bottom five was Shae Davies in the #4 Penrite Holden, Chris Pither in the #111 Ice Break Ford, Jason Bright in the #8 BOC Holden and Mark Winterbottom in the #1 Bottle-O Ford.

Chris Van der Drift in the #4 Penrite Holden started the race in the rear, however by turn 1 Tony D'Alberto in the #17 Shell Ford collided with Dean Canto in the #1 Bottle-O Ford and Steven Richards in the #888 Caltex Ford, dropping Canto to the rear.
