Jack LeBrocq picked up his 1st last place finish of his career when his #28 Gogetta Nissan was involved in a two-car crash that ended his race after 18 of the race's 65 laps. The finish came in LeBrocq's 12th start.

Alex Davison in the #3 Gemini/Repair Management Australia Holden started the race in the rear after a penalty for impeding James Courtney in the #22 Mobil 1 HSV Racing/Boost Mobile during qualifying (Alex Davison initially qualified 29th out of 30, but got a 2 grid spot penalty), however by turn 2 Alex Rullo in the #62 Repair Management/Castrol Holden fell to the rear. By lap 4 Rullo had dropped Alex Davison to last again.

Alex Davison held last until first pitstops on lap 8 when Dale Wood in the #96 GB Galvanizing/ADVAN Holden pitted, falling to last. On lap 11 Jack LeBrocq in the #28 Gogetta Nissan pitted, falling to last. On lap 16 Will Davison in the #19 Woodstock Holden lost a tire heading into turn 3, almost hitting the tyre barrier. This dropped Will Davison to the rear.

Davison held last until lap 21 when Michael Caruso in the #23 Nismo Nissan collided with Jack LeBrocq heading out of turn 2, damaging the front Suspension on LeBrocq's car and the rear Suspension on Caruso's car, and nearly taking Todd Hazlewood in the #35 Bigmate Holden with them. The damage took both Caruso and LeBrocq out of the race, and left LeBrocq last, as Caruso attempted to run a few more laps on lap 38, however rear Suspension damage eventually ended Caruso's race.

Will Davison continued to lose laps after a second tire failure on lap 32, and eventually is forced to the garage on lap 40. Following Will Davison into the garage was Dale Wood in the #99 GB Galvanizing/ADVAN Holden after a fuel fire caused by melted wires on lap 42, ending his race. Rounding out the bottom five was Alex Davison in the #3 Gemini/Repair Management Australia Holden.
