The biggest crash in V8 Supercars history leaves Douglas last at Launceston.

Taz Douglas picked up his 2nd last-place finish of his career when his #3 Repiar Management Australia Holden was involved in a 14-car pileup that ended his round after 1 of the race's 4 laps. The finish came in Douglas' 50th start.

Taz Douglas in the #3 Repair Management Australia Holden started the race in the rear, however by turn 2 Michael Caruso in the #23 Nismo Nissan, likely hoping that the track would dry out, started the race on dry tires and was in last. He held last until lap 2 when catastrophe struck.
Heading out of turn 3, Rick Kelly in the #15 Sengled Nissan was bounced into the fence by Fabian Coulthard in the #12 Shell Ford. Further up the road, Garth Tander in the #33 Wilson Security Holden was spun out by Cameron Waters in the #6 Monster Energy Ford, spearing Tander into the slowing Rick Kelly, spearing him across the track. With the track blocked and almost no vision, James Moffat in the #34 Wilson Security Holden runs over the back of Tim Slade in the #14 Freightliner Holden, and Rick firstly hits the other fence, then is hit by Nick Percat in the #8 Biante 1:1/Adelaide Holden, who is then hit by Tim Blanchard in the #21 Cooldrive Distribution Holden. About the same time, James Moffat in the #34 Wilson Security Holden collided with teammate Tander, then with Scott Pye in the #2 Mobil 1 HSV Racing Holden. Will Davison then slams into Rick, flaring Davison's back, and Alex Rullo in the #62 Repair Management Australia/Castrol Holden and Simona De Silvestro in the #78 Harvey Norman Nissan run into the back of Tander, at the same time Taz Douglas in the #3 Repair Management Australia Holden slammed into the back of James Courtney in the #22 Mobil 1 HSV Racing Holden, sending Courtney into Percat, Blanchard and back into Douglas, before finally rolling back into Davison. the result of this crash was a 50-minute red flag that reduced the number of laps run from 50 to 4.

It has been confirmed that Will Davison in the #19 Woodstock Holden, Rick Kelly in the #15 Sengled Nissan, and Taz Douglas in the #3 Repair Management Australia Holden and James Courtney in the #22 Mobil 1 HSV Racing Holden were done for the weekend.

Rounding out the bottom five, with just five of the 14 cars involved, was Will Davison in the #19 Woodstock Holden, Alex Rullo in the #62 Repair Management Australia/Castrol Holden, Taz Douglas in the #3 Repair Management Australia Holden and James Courtney in the #22 Mobil 1 Holden. While Simona De Silvestro in the #78 Harvey Norman Nissan was involved in the crash, and was headed for a bottom 3 finish, she managed to limp her car back to the pits and get it repaired during the red flag. The upshot of this is that Simona get back out and finished 14th.
