DJR Team Penske penalties APPLIED!

The penalty has been delivered.

So, DJR Team Penske has been hit with a $250,000 fine and docked 300 team points. Scott McLaughlin and Alex Premat keet their victory, Fabian Coulthard and Tony D'Alberto were dumped from 6th to 21st in the standings, the last car on the lead lap.

This is the maximum penalty that can be given out to a team, and so I'm OK with this result, mostly.

I still personally think that Ryan Story should face a sanction himself, as he was the one who commanded Fabian Coulthard to slow up and disadvantage most of the field. Although (getting a little conspiratorial for this next bit) Rodger Penske was the one who made the original order, and Ryan Story was just the one who gave the order.

Anyway, back to seriousness, 46 seconds is an enormous amount of time to hold the entire field up for. And it was commanded by Ryan Story, again, maybe on ordered from Penske.

Of course, the Fordtard conspiracy theorists are out in force, complaining about RBHRT getting away with "something similar" a couple of years ago, even though in the case of RBHRT it was only the two team cars affected, while in Coulthard's case there were as many a 5 drivers who would have gotten out of  the pitlane ahead of Scott McLaughlin and Jamie Whincup. In addition, cars #21 and #78 would have likely gotten back on the lead lap.

Here is the link to the full stewards summary, it's long but VERY detailed.
