Post-Race Exclusion leaves Moffat last at Eastern Creek

James Moffat picked up his 13th last-place finish of his career when his #34 Wilson Security Holden was disqualified for a technical breach after -31 of the race’s 31 laps. The finish came in Moffat’s 213th start.

Alex Rullo in the #62 Repair Management/Castrol Holden started the race in the rear, a delayed start, however at turn 1 Will Davison in the #95 Cars 3 Holden was spun out of 14th place off James Courtney in the #22 SP Tools Holden, with Davison also spinning Jason Bright in the #56 Mega Bulk Fuels Ford, dropping Davison to last.

Will Davison held last until lap 9 when pistops began, with James Courtney in the #22 SP Tools Holden briefly held last, then on lap 11 Tim Slade in the #14 Freightliner Holden suffered a tire failure, dropping him to last. Rulllo fell to last on lap 13.

Alex Davison in the #3 Gemini/Repair Management Australia Holden fell to last on lap 15 in his pit-stop, and held last until lap 16 when Todd Kelly in the #7 carsales.com.au Nissan suffered a tire failure, spraying debris all over the track, causing a safety car. Repairs dropped Todd Kelly to last. Post-Race, James Moffat in the #34 Wilson Security Holden was excluded from the race after an attachment was discovered to the undertray of the #34.

A late-race incident at the restart between Shane Van Gisbergen in the #97 Red Bull Racing Australia Holden and Scott McLaughlin in the #17 Shell Ford saw both penalised for separate incidents. Shane Van Gisbergen was dropped into the bottom five after a post-race drive-through penalty for overlapping McLaughlin before the Green Flag, and McLaughlin narrowly avoided a bottom five appearance after a post-race Drive-Through Penalty for spinning Shane Van Gisbergen in turn 2. Between Kelly and Van Gisbergen was Todd Kelly, Nick Percat in the #8 AC Delco/Adelaide Holden. Between McLaughlin and Van Gisbergen was Alex Rullo.
