Power Steering failure nets Pye last at Eastern Creek



Scott Pye picked up his 11th last-place finish of his career when his #17 MAN Ford retired with Power Steering failure after 8 of the race's 31 laps. The finish came in Pye's 123rd start,

Shae Davies started the race in the rear in the #4 Westfield Eastgardens/SupaCenta Moore Park Holden, however by turn 1 Andre Heimgartner in the #3 Repair Management Australia Holden fell to the rear, with Shay Davies returning to the rear by turn 8. By the end of lap 1 Karl Reindler in the #18 Preston Hire/Fuchs Holden fell to the rear, 8 seconds off the leaders. Shay Davies returned too last soon afterwards, which he held until Todd Kelly in the #7 Carsales.com Nissan fell to the rear on lap 6 during pitstops.

Todd Kelly held last until Lap 8 when disaster struck for Scott Pye in the #17 MAN Holden on lap 9 when the Power Steering let go on car #17, ending his race and dropping him to last by lap 10.

Rounding out the bottom five was Shay Davies in the #4 Westfield Eastgardens/SupaCenta Moore Park Holden, Todd Kelly in the #7 Carsales.com Nissan, Andre Heimgartner in the #3 Repair Management Australia Holden and Karl Reindler in the #18 Preston Hire/Fuchs Holden.

This is the second last-place finish for Scott Pye this season, his first was 13 races ago, when a tire failure left Pye last at Philip Island.
