Brodie Kostecki, arguably the most talented of the Kostecki
family, is in his 6th year in the main game. He ran a few races for Kostecki
Brothers Racing alongside his brother and cousin, but the rest of his races
have been for Erebus Motorsports.
2023 saw Brodie Kostecki win the championship for the first
time. 2024 went badly for Kostecki, as tensions with Erebus Motorsports cut the
first two races of the season from his schedule. Kostecki would move from
Erebus to Dick Johnson Racing in 2025, where he’s been much happier. Kostecki
has been competitive this year, winning 6 races and placing 3rd in the
championship.
Jobe Stewart (#9 Spinifex Sheds/Vibe Petroleum Chevrolet)
started last. This was after a post-qualifying penalty for causing a crash with
Ryan Wood (#2 Truck Assist/NTI Toyota). Stewart battles with Zach Bates (#10
Bendix Chevrolet) and James Golding (#7 Cooldrive Distribution Ford) early in
the race.
After a few laps, however, Jobe Stewart (Spinifex Sheds/Vibe
Petroleum Chevrolet) drifted about a second from the pack. However, starting
Lap 10, Macauley Jones (#96 JBS/Blackwood Toyota) also drifted back, falling to
23rd after starting 14th.
Pit stops started on lap 15. Jack LeBrocq (#4 Sherrin
Rentals Chevrolet) pitted first, dropping to last.
Declan Fraser (#777 Nulon Chevrolet) pitted on Lap 18 and
dropped behind LeBrocq.
Jobe Stewart (#9 Spinifex Sheds/Vibe Petroleum Chevrolet)
pitted on Lap 20 and had a terrible stop with a cross-threaded nut on the
left-rear. The poor pit stop dropped him to last and a lap down.
Lap 39 saw Kai Allen (#26 Penrite/Perth Bears Ford) and
Brodie Kostecki (#17 Shell V-Power Ford) collide at Turn 1, sending Kostecki
into the same trap. The incident triggered the only safety car of the race.
Kostecki would lose 3 laps being retrieved.
Race completion decided the bottom five. Macauley Jones (#96
JBS/Blackwood Toyota) finished 23rd. Zach Bates (#10 Bendix Chevrolet), Declan
Fraser (#777 Nulon Chevrolet) and Jayden Ojeda (#31 Nulon Chevrolet) finished
in the bottom five.
