David Reynolds picked up his 10th last-place finish of his career when his #9 Penrite Oils Holden retired with a Steering Rack failure after 16 of the race's 39 laps. The finish came in Reynolds' 334th start.
David Reynolds has been running full-time for 11 years and has seen some success in terms of race wins. He was 11th in Practice 1 but fell to 17th in Practice 2.
Chris Pither in the #22 Coca-Cola Holden started the race in the rear, however off the start Tood Hazelwood in the #14
Brut Max Defence/Black Duck Seat Covers stalled at the start and fell to the rear. He recovered to 10th in Qualifying.
However, he didn't stay there and put Chris Pither in the #22 Coca-Cola Holden to last by the end of lap 1. Andre Heimgartner in the #7 NED Ford fell to the rear on Lap 3 after dropping a Cylinder. Chris Pither returned to last on lap 7.
Lap 11 saw Jack Smith in the #4 SCT Logistics Holden hit the fence at Turn 6 on lap 10, sending him to last, out of the race with a Steering Rack failure, losing 7 laps in repairs.
The last-place race will end when the Power Steering failed for David Reynolds in the #9 Penrite Oils Holden on lap 17, ending his race. Following Reynolds out was Shane Van Gisbergen in the #97 Red Bull Holden, who retired on lap 23 with the same issue.
Rounding out the bottom five is Chris Pither in the #22 Coca-Cola Holden and Jake Kostecki in the #34 UNIT Holden.
