Jaxon Evans is in his 2nd full-time season with Brad Jones
Racing, having replaced Jack Smith in 2024 after outpacing him at Bathurst.
Evans has also competed in the FIA World Endurance Championship, and finished
2nd in 2021 in the International Porsche Supercup. He was 21st in Practice 1
and leapt to 9th in Practice 2. Evans then plunged to 20th in qualifying.
Rylan Gray (#5 Koan Solutions Ford) started the race in the
rear. At the exit of Turn 1, Jaxon Evans (#12 SCT Logistics Chevrolet) made
wheel-to-wheel contact with Richie Stanaway (#62 Nulon Chevrolet), sending
Evans hard into the wall. The collision ended Evans’ race.
Ryan Wood (#2 Mobil 1/NTI Ford) started leaking fluid
because of an overheating engine.
On the restart, Wood’s engine died, causing a concertina
that led to contact between Cameron Hill (#4 Supaglass Chevrolet) and Jack
LeBrocq (#9 Tyrepower/SS Signs Chevrolet).
There was additional contact between Thomas Randle (#55
Castrol Ford), Hill, and Will Brown (#1 Red Bull/Amol Chevrolet), but they
continued.
At turn 5, there was contact between David Reynolds (#20
Tradie Chevrolet) and Nick Percat (#8 Bendix Chevrolet). Percat then fired into
Richie Stanaway (#62 Nulon Chevrolet), destroying the left-rear of Stanaway’s
car.
The incidents combined ended the races of LeBrocq and Wood,
and cost Stanaway 7 laps.
Rylan Grey (#5 Koan Solutions Ford) rounded out the Bottom
Five.
