Aaron Cameron (#3 Cooldrive Distribution Ford) picked up the
3rd last-place finish of his career, finishing under power, a lap down, in the
first race at the Barbagallo raceway. The finish came on Cameron’s 12th start.
The Blanchard Racing Team drafted Aaron Cameron in to
replace Aaron Love after the first round of the 2025 Supercars season. Winning
the 2023 S5000 Australian and Tasman series and taking second in the Super 2
Championship shows his strong racing record. Aaron Cameron was Aaron Love’s
co-driver in 2024, where they finished 17th at Sandown and 23rd at Bathurst.
Cameron was 19th in Practice 1. He improved to 13th in Practice 2. Cameron then
qualified 22nd.
Lochie Dalton (#5 Recycal Ford) began the race from the
back. James Courtney (#7) collided with teammate Aaron Cameron (#3) at Turn 5.
This caused Cameron to spin, giving Cameron a flat tire, costing him a lap in
repairs. Cameron would remain last for the duration of the race.
The Bottom Five wasn’t determined until the race ended.
Lochie Dalton (#5 Recycal Ford) would remain 24th during the early stages of
the race, but with pit stops started on Lap 19, that would change.
First to pit was Cameron Hill (#4 SupaGlass Chevrolet) on
Lap 20. Next in the pits was Anton De Pasquale (#18 DeWalt Chevrolet), who
pitted on the following lap. Cooper Murray (#99 Vibe Petroleum Chevrolet)
pitted on lap 22, and Macauley Jones (#96 Pizza Hut/Karate Kid Chevrolet)
followed on lap 23. Jones would remain 24th for six laps. Then, Lochie Dalton
(#5 Recycal Ford) pitted. The driver who would eventually fall to 24th was
Richie Stanaway (#62 Nulon Chevrolet) after a Lap 30 pit stop.
Lochie Dalton (#5 Recycal Ford), Macauley Jones (#96 Pizza
Hut/Karate Kid Chevrolet), and Andre Heimgartner (#8 R&J Batteries
Chevrolet) finished the Bottom Five.
