Macauley Jones picked up the 7th last-place finish of his career when his #96 Coca-Cola Holden was involved in a multi-car crash that ended his race after 1 of the race's 39 laps. The finish came in Jones' 97th start, and sees him take the lead of the 2021 Superlastcar Championship.
Macauley Jones is in his 3rd full-time season, though he has run as Co-Driver for several years beforehand. He was 21st in the only Practice of the round but rose to 17th in Qualifying.
Garry Jacobson in the #22 Premair Hire Holden started the race in the rear, but immediately Jack Smith in the #4 SCT Logistics Holden fell to the rear. Within the halfway stage of the lap Macauley Jones in the #96 Coca-Cola Holden fell to the rear.
At the end of Lap 1 Mark Winterbottom in the #18 Irwin Tools/Fuchs Holden pits and falls to the rear.
Macauley Jones in the #96 Coca-Cola Holden was turned on lap 1 at Turn 4 by Bryce Fullwood in the #2 Middy's Electrical Holden, suffering significant left-front and left side damage, sending him to the Garage and ending his race, leaving him last.
Rounding out the Bottom Five was Fabian Coulthard in the #19 Local Legends Holden after running out of fuel on the last lap, Brodie Kostecki in the #99 Boost Mobile Holden after contact with Shane Van Gisbergen in the #97 Red Bull Holden on lap 4 turn 13, Bryce Fullwood in the #2 Middy's Electrical Holden after a pit-lane drive-through penalty for taking out Macauley Jones, and Mark Winterbottom in the #18 Irwin Tools/Fuchs Holden after suffering two flat tires on Lap 1.
