Tim Slade, a veteran of the sport, is in his 13th full-time season in the main game of Supercars. Having drifted between a few teams, he’s had a little success with a couple of race wins. He was 13th in Practice 1 and Practice 2 then rose slightly to 12th in Qualifying.
Chris Pither in the #22 Coca-Cola Holden started the race in the rear, but quickly Tim Slade in the #3 Cooldrive Distribution Ford was hit by James Courtney in the #5 Snowy Rivers Caravans Ford, Nick Percat in the #2 NTI/Mobile 1 Holden, James Golding in the #31 Subway Holden, sending Slade to the garage with Suspension damage, ending his race.
The other driver out was Macauley Jones in the #96 Kubota Holden, after he collided with James Golding in the #31 Subway Holden, leading to Golding spinning at Turn 4 and Jones crashing, taking him out of the race too. In the meantime, the rest of the Bottom 5 was Jack LeBrocq in the #34 Truck Assist Holden pulled into the garage on Lap 6 with a Power Steering drama, losing 8 laps in repairs, Bryce Fullwood in the #14 Middy's Electrical Holden had power steering issues on lap 9, sending him into the garage, losing 7 laps in repairs and Jake Kostecki in the #56 Tradie Ford lost a left-rear tire after a pitstop, taking 3 laps to get the tire back on.
