Will Brown picked up the 2nd last-place finish of his career when his #9 Boost Mobile Holden finished under power, on the lead lap in the first race at Winton. The finish came in Brown’s 52nd start.
Will Brown is in his 2nd full-time season and has made a name for himself, with a win and 3 Podiums. It's been a much more difficult 2nd season though, due mostly to horrific pit stops. He was fastest in Practice 1 but fell to 8th in Practice 2. He then qualified 4th.
Garry Jacobson in the #76 Subway Holden started the race in the rear and anchored last early on. Mark Winterbottom in the #18 Irwin Tools/Fuchs Holden had contact in Turn 4, dropping to last, losing 12 seconds due to an Electrical issue. Winterbottom slowly started reeling in Chris Pither in the #22 Coca-Cola Holden.
Pitstops began on Lap 5, and James Courtney in the #5 Truck Assist Ford pitted and fell to last. Followed by Garry Jacobson in the #76 Subway Holden on Lap 7, and Chris Pither in the #22 Coca-Cola Holden after their pitstops.
Jordan Boys in the #49 Dynamic Supplies/Joss Holden pitted on lap 17 and dropped to last.
Lap 13 saw Will Brown in the #9 Boost Mobile Holden had a 26-second pitstop after being dropped too early, and having to re-engage the Clutch to stop the wheels spinning. The Pit-Lane penalty on Lap 20 would put Brown to last.
Rounding out the Bottom Five was Chris Pither in the #22 Coca-Cola Holden, Jordan Boys in the #49 Dynamic Supplies/Joss, Jake Kostecki in the #56 Tradie Ford and Todd Hazelwood in the #35 Truck Assist Holden.
