James Courtney picked up his 14th last-place finish of his career when
his #25 Mobil 1/Boost Mobile Holden was involved in a 2-car crash that ended
his race after 24 of the race's 65 laps. The finish came in Courtney's 392nd
start.
Tim Blanchard in the #21 Cooldrive Distribution Holden started the race
in the rear, however at turn 4 Scott Pye in the #2 Mobil 1/Boost Mobile Holden
ran into the back of James Courtney in the #25 Mobile 1/Boost Mobile Holden,
sending Courtney into Mark Winterbottom in the #5 Bottle-O Ford, damaging the
right-front suspension on Courtney's car, and damaging the rear suspension on
Wintertbottom's car, sending both to the garage and initially Winterbottom to
last, but when Winterbottom returned to the track on lap 5, Courtney fell to
the rear. While Courtney did eventually return to the track, he was too many
laps down to be classified, and eventually retired on lap 36.
A lap later Tim Slade in the #8 Freightliner/Alliance Truck Parts Holden
pitted on lap 3 with a puncture after contact with Anton De Pasquale in the
unsponsored #99 Erebus Holden.
Rounding out the bottom five was Todd Hazelwood in the #35 BigMate/Optus
Ford and Kurt Kostecki in the #42 Acroplate Holden got a 15 second time penalty
for contact with Tim Blanchard,
