Todd Kelly picked up his 26th last-place finish of his
career, while Jack Lebrocq picked up his 3rd last-place finish of his career,
when their #7 carsales.com.au Nissan was involved in a 2-car crash, with Todd
Kelly at the wheel, that ended their race after 45 of the race's shortened 94
laps. The finish came in Todd's 541st race start, and LeBrocq's 15th start.
Aaren Russell and Taz Douglas started the race in the rear
in the #3 Plus Fitness Holden, however by turn 2 Alex Rullo and Aaren Russell
in the #62 Repair Management/Castrol Holden fell to the rear, however Rullo got
back past Douglas by the back straight.
On lap 6 Karl Reindler in the #18 Preston Hire/Fuchs Holden
had to slow in turn 11, the resulting concertina caused Alexandre Premat in the
#17 Shell V-Power Ford to spin, and he was collected by Jack Perkins in the #22
Mobil 1 HSV Racing/Boost Mobile Holden and Luke Youlden in the #9 Penrite
Australian Made and Owned Holden, dropping Premat to the rear. Premat put
Douglas to the rear on lap 13.
Douglas held last until lap 16 when Garry Jacobson in the
#56 MEGA Bulk Fuels Ford pitted, dropping Jacobson to the rear. Douglas fell to
last again on lap 19, and was the first to drop a lap on lap 23.
Douglas held last until lap 34 when Chris Pither in the #99 GB
Galvanizing/ADVAN Holden pitted, exchanging with co-driver Dale Wood, dropping
him to the rear.
Richard Muscat in the #34 Wilson Security Holden fell to the
rear on lap 35 after exchanging with James Moffat.
Mechanical Black Flag for Tim Blanchard in the #21 Cooldrive
Distribution Holden due to an opening passenger door. putting them to the rear.
Douglas returned to the rear during his lap 42 pit stop.
On lap 46 Todd Kelly in the #7 carsales.com. Nissan collided
heavily with Garth Tander in the #33 Wilson Security Holden at the turn 1,2,3
chicane, doing terminal damage to the front and rear of car #7, putting Todd
and co-driver Jack LeBrocq into the garage, and dropping them to last on lap
48.
Next to fall out was Aaren Russell and Taz Douglas in the #3
Plus Fitness Holden, Suspension failure on lap 50, possibly related to an
earlier incident, took them out. Following the #3 out was Lee Holdsworth in the
#18 Preston Hire/Fuchs Holden hit a tire bundle head-on at turn 10, dislodging
the tires and causing the first Safety Car of the race. The damage sent
Holdsworth to the garage on lap 60, and retired shortly afterwards.
Rounding out the bottom five was Alex Rullo and Alex Davison
in the #62 Repair Management/Castrol Holden, dropping 2 laps during the race
and Dale Wood and Chris Pither in the #99 GB Galvanizing/ADVAN Holden after an
incident late in the race with James Moffat and James Golding in the #34 - Holden.
