Alex Rullo picked up his 1st last-place finish of his career
when his #62 Repair Management/Castrol Holden was involved in a crash that
ended his race without completing a single lap of the first race at Queensland
Raceway in Ipswich. The finish came in Rullo's 15th start.
Alex Rullo in the #62 Repair Management Australia Holden
started the race in the rear, however by turn 2 Alex Davison in the #3
Gemini/Repair Management Australia Holden had fallen to the rear.
Heading into turn 3 Dale Wood in the #99 GB
Galvanizing/ADVAN Holden spun James Moffat in the #34 Wilson Security Holden,
looping him into James Golding in the #31 Wilson Security Holden. Trying to
avoid the chaos, Alex Rullo in the #62 Repair Management Australia Holden went
into the grass, hitting something and tearing the left-front out of Rullo's
car, forcing him to the garage and down to last. Overheating issues from the lap 1 damage would nearly KO Moffat
from the face on lap 20, with Moffat losing 8 laps in the garage.
Finishing between Rullo and Moffat was Jason Bright in the
#56 MEGA Bulk Fuels Ford, who retired with a broken Throttle Shaft while
running 11th on lap 34.
Rounding out the bottom five was Simona De Silvestro in the
#78 Harvey Norman/LG Super UHD TV Nissan after a troubled race which included first lap off-road damage and both late-race off-road excursion and tire failure and Alex Davison
in the #3 Gemini/Repair Management Australia Holden.
