Mark McNally picked up his only last-place finish of his career when his #16 Hi-Tec Oils Holden retired with Mechanical issues after 2 of the race's 74 laps. The finish came in McNally's 15th start.
Jason Bargwana in the #3 Sprint Gas Holden started the race in the rear, and during the early stages of the first lap Mark McNally in the #16 Hi-Tec Oils Holden and Dean Fiore in the #12 Bing Lee / Panasonic Lumix Holden exchanged last-place. However, on lap 2 McNally fell to last, and retired shortly afterwards.
The remaining drivers retired in crashes. Michael Patrizi in the #333 Wilson Security Ford smacked the tires at Turn 1, ending his race, Paul Dumbrell in the #10 Autobarn Holden and Dean Fiore in the #12 Bing Lee / Panasonic Lumix Holden collided at turn 3 on lap 25, ending both of their races, and Cameron McConville in the #14 WOW Sight and Sound Holden after a crash on Lap 41.
Todd Kelly would go on to become Last-Place champion for 2009.
