David Reynolds picked up his 9th last-place finish of his career when his
#9 Penrite Oils/Enviro Box Purple Holden finished under power, 16 laps down in
the 2nd race at Pukekohe. The finish came in Reynolds' 309th start.
David Reynolds is in his 10th year in the supercars full-time and has
shined at Erebus Motorsports in the last couple of years. He was 4th in
Practice 1, stayed 4th in Practice 2, then dropped to 13th in Practice 3. After
a crash in Qualifying, Reynolds lined up 22nd.
Jack LeBrocq in the #19 Truck Assist Holden started the race in the rear,
but by the end of Lap 1 Garry Jacobson in the #3 Rabble.club Nissan had fallen
to the rear. Jones and Jacobson exchange last a few times during the opening
laps.
Pitstops started on alp 6, and last place was exchanged by Tim Slade in
the #14 Machinery House/Dunlop Holden dropped to last during his opening
pitstop on lap 6, Anton De Pasquale in the #99 Penrite/Enviro Box Green Holden
after his lap 11 pitstop.
De Pasquale held last until teammate David Reynolds in the #9 Penrite
Oils/Enviro Box Purple Holden stalled on the trap with a broken Throttle Cable,
triggering the () safety car of the race. Reynolds lost 16 laps in repairs.
Rounding out the bottom five was Jack LeBrocq in the #19 Truck Assist
Holden, Macauley Jones in the #21 Cooldrive Distribution Holden, Garry Jacobson
in the #3 Rabble.club Nissan after all of them were screwed by a bad safety car
decision, and Anton De Pasquale in the #99 Penrite Oils/Enviro Box Green Holden
after early-race steering damage.
