Macauley
Jones picked up his 3rd last-place finish of his career when his #21 Cooldrive
Distribution Holden retired with a Fuel Leak after 37 of the race's 39 laps.
The finish came in Macauley's 41st start.
Macauley
Jones is a rookie in the Supercars series. He was 20th in Practice 1 but slipped to 22nd in Practice 2. He was 2nd
slowest in Practice 3, and qualified at the same spot, not getting out of
Qualifying 1.
Jack
LeBrocq in the #19 Truck Assist Holden started the race in the rear, but by
Turn 1 Garry Jacobson in the #3 Rabble.club Nissan fell to the rear, followed a
turn later by Macauley Jones in the #21 Cooldrive Distribution Holden.
Jacobson
and Jones exchange last during the early laps but by Lap 5 Macauley was well
anchoring last.
Pit-Stops
began on lap 10 with Scott McLaughlin pitting and dropping to the rear.
Disaster
strikes for Scott Pye in the #2 Fuel Corp Holden had a wheel nut failure on
their lap 12 Pitstop, due to contact the left-rear tire nut was damaged,
causing the pit-stop to be significantly delayed and dropping Pye to last. By
Lap 25 LeBrocq had fallen to the rear.
LeBrocq
held last until just two laps to go when Tim Slade in the #14 Freightliner
Holden spun out of the race on lap 38 at turn 5 after an incident with James
Courtney in the #22 MEGA Bulk Fuels Holden, Slade having run out of fuel
moments before, then Macauley Jones in the #21 Cooldrive Distribution Holden
pulled into the pit-lane on lap 38 and retired due to a Fuel Leak, the only two retirements of the
race. Since Macauley was behind Slade at the time of the incident, Macauley was
classified last.
Rounding out the bottom five was Jack LeBrocq in the #19 Truck
Assist Holden, Scott Pye in the #2 Fuel Corp Holden and Garry Jacobson in the
#3 Rabble.Club Nissan.
