Richie Stanaway picked up his 4th last-place finish of his career when his #33 Boost Mobile Holden was disqualified from the 3rd race at Albert Park after -25 of the race's 25 laps. The finish came in Stanaway's 43rd start. He was also ordered to start the 4th race from last and in the pit-lane (I reckon he should start the race in the wall).
Stanaway is in his 2nd season of Supercars action, switching to Garry Rodgers Motorsport after he was dropped from Tickford racing. He was 11th in Practice 1 but plummeted to 18th in Practice 2. He recovered slightly to qualify 17th.
Although Cameron Waters in the #6 Monster Energy Ford and Scott McLaughlin in the #17 Bottle-O Ford failed to even make it to the grid, Richie Stanaway in the #33 Boost Mobile Holden was disqualified for dangerous driving involving Lee Holdsworth in the #18 Bottle-O Ford, including Stanaway trying to put Holdworth in the wall sending him to last.
Disaster struck for the 2nd race this round for Shane Van Gisbergen in the #97 Red Bull/Holden Holden, losing a wheel after his pit-stop, triggering the only safety car of the race. Van Gisbergen would finish 2 laps down. Rounding out the bottom five was Macauley Jones in the #21 Cooldrive Distribution Holden.
