Macauley Jones picked up his 1st last-place finish of his career when his
#4 DrillPro Services Holden finished under power, 1
lap down in the first race at Hidden Valley. The finish came in Jones' 17th
start.
Macauley Jones is currently a racer in the Super2 series (XFinity of
Supercars) and has run all his races as either a co-driver or a wildcard entry.
He was the slowest in Practice 1 and Practice 2, but improved to 21st in
Practice 3, despite crashing late in the session. Jones lined up in 25th.
Todd Hazelwood in the #35 BigMate/Optus Ford started the race in the rear
and held last until Turn 1 Lap 2 when James Golding in the #34 Wilson Security
Holden hit Cameron Waters in the #6 Monster Energy Ford, sending Waters into
Mark Winterbottom in the #5 Bottle-O Ford, causing Winterbottom to spin and
dropping him to the rear. Golding copped a 15 second time penalty for the
incident.
Winterbottom held last until Lap 5 when Chazz Mostert in the #55
Supercheap Auto Ford pitted, dropping him to the rear. Golding falls to last
during his pit-stop on lap 6. Richie Stanaway in the #56 Rabble.com Ford went
off twice on laps 10 and 11, dropping him to the rear.
Stanaway held last until Todd Hazelwood in the #35 BigMate Ford pitted,
dropping to the rear, followed by Macauley Jones on lap 21, where he firstly
ran off at turn 1 on lap 20, then pitted on lap 21, dropping to the rear.
Rounding out the bottom five was James Golding in the #34 Wilson Security
Holden, Richie Stanaway in the #56 Rabble Club Ford
after a 5 second post-race penalty for contact with James Courtney, Todd
Hazelwood in the #35 BigMate/Optus Ford and James Courtney in the #25 Mobil
1/Boost Mobile Holden.
