First Lap tire failure leaves Alex Davison last, and leading, at Hidden Valley

Alex Davison picked up his 5th last-place finish of his career when his #19 Local Legends Jerky Biltong Holden finished under power, 2 laps down in the final race at Hidden Valley. The finish came in Davison's 181st start.

Alex Davison has been the main game driver on and off but mostly has run as a co-driver, usually for his brother Will Davison. He was 13th in Practice 1, but slid to 21st in Practice 2. He recovered slightly to 19th in Qualifying.

Todd Hazelwood in the #14 Brut Max Defence/R&J Batteries Holden started the race in the rear after Mechanical issues in Qualifying, but by turn 1 Chris Pither in the #22 Coca-Cola Holden had fallen to last, then teammate Alex Davison in the #19 Local Legends Jerky Biltong Holden fell to the rear after contact with Garry Jacobson in the #34 UNIT Holden, leaving him last and a lap down, and remained there for the rest of the race.

Rounding out the bottom five was Anton De Pasquale in the #99 Penrite Oils Holden, Scott Pye in the #20 DeWalt Holden, Chris Pither in the #22 Coca-Cola Holden and Todd Hazelwood in the #14 Brut Max Defence/R&J Batteries Holden.

eSeries last-place champion Jack Smith last at Hidden Valley

Jack Smith picked up his 3rd last-place finish of his career when his #4 SCT Logistics Holden finished under power, 1 lap down in the 2nd race at Hidden Valley. The finish came in Smith's 23rd start.

Jack Smith is in his first full-time season, after a partial season last year. He was 5th out of 6 in the Rookie Practice Session, and 12th in Practice 1, but slid to 18th in Practice 2. He slid further to last in Qualifying.

Jack Smith in the #4 SCT Logistics Holden started the race in the rear, and held last until pitstops begin on lap 5, where Bryce Fullwood in the #2 Middy's Electrical Holden pitted and dropped to the rear, followed by Macauley Jones in the #3 Cooldrive Distribution Holden after putting on lap 8. Jack Smith in the #4 SCT Logistics Holden returned to last by the time Pitstops were completed. Smith held last for the remainder of the race.

Rounding out the bottom five was Macauley Jones in the #3 Cooldrive Distribution Holden, Jake Kostecki in the #34 UNIT Holden, Chris Pither in the #22 Coca-Cola Holden and Todd Hazelwood in the #14 Brut Max Defence/R&J Batteries.

Percat fuming after contact with Van Gisbergen leaves him last at Hidden Valley

Nick Percat picked up his 10th last-place finish of his career when his #8 RT Batteries Holden was involved in a 3-lap crash that ended his race without completing a single lap of the first race at Hidden Valley. The finish came in Percat's 203rd start.

Nick Percat has run full-time for 7 years but has run part-time for a few years previous. He was slowest in Practice 1 but raced to 13th in Practice 2. He would qualify 12th.

Jack Smith in the #4 SCT Logistics Holden started the race in the rear but at Turn 6 Nick Percat in the #8

RT Batteries Holden and Todd Hazelwood in the #14 Brut Max Defence/R&J Batteries Holden was involved in a multi-car crash that sent Percat to the garage and down to last. Van Gisbergen was given a pit-lane drive-through penalty because of the crash, though would recover to 11th.

Following Percat out was Jake Kostecki in the #34 UNIT Holden on lap 3, after Rick Kelly in the #15 Castrol Nissan collided with Jack LeBrocq in the #55 Supercheap Auto Ford at turn 11, sliding both cars off the road. Upon re-entry, Kelly collided with Jake Kostecki in the #34 UNIT Holden, sending Kostecki hard into the outside wall and triggering the first safety car of the race. Kelly was given a drive-through penalty for an unsafe re-entry but would recover to 13th.

The last one to retire was Macauley Jones in the #3 Cooldrive Distribution Holden spun into the wall between turns 5 and 6 on lap 24, causing the 2nd Safety Car of the race. Rounding out the bottom five was Bryce Fullwood in the #2 Middy's Electrical Holden after he spun Garry Jacobson in the #35 UNIT Holden on lap 29 and Scott McLaughlin in the #17 Shell V-Power Ford, both of them after 15-second post-race penalties, Fullwood for spinning Jacobson and McLaughlin for passing Courtney before the control line.

How Juniorgeneric defines a Last-Place finisher

Australian V8 LASTCAR'S Official Definition of a "Last-Place Finisher" (LPF)

For the purposes of the Australian V8 LASTCAR championship rankings and statistics, a "Last-Place Finisher" (LPF) is a driver(s) who, after qualifying for a V8 Supercars Championship Points-Paying race, the result must be confirmed from official sources, or unofficial sources failing that. Only one driver (or two in a endurance race) can be classified as the LPF for that race.

Meeting those requirements, the LPF can be any driver classified as such for any reason, including, but not limited to.
1) A "did not start" although it should be noted that there is a difference between my definition of "did not start" and Brock Beard's definition of "Did not Start".
For example, in Bathurst 2015 Chazz Mostert and Cameron Waters' #6 Pepsi Max Ford had a huge accident during practice that injured Mostert and all but wrote off the car. Car #6 was withdrawn, and therefore I don't count Mostert and Waters as finishing last. Under Brock Beard's definition, however, Mostert and Waters would have finished last instead of David Wall and Chris Pither.
2) An entrant who encounters an event once the race has started which prevents the driver(s) from finishing ahead of any other qualified entrants, including both DNFs and drivers who finish under power but laps down*

*Only when all the cars in the race are running ahead of the LPF

3) A decision to “start and park” the driver’s entry (Extremely rare in V8 Supercars)
(4) a disqualification handed down by V8 Supercars and/or track officials that subsequently classifies the driver(s) in the final position behind the unofficial LPF.

Australian V8 LASTCAR shall not consider the LPF as anything else, including but not limited too
1) Any DNQ's
2) Any driver's who's car withdrew before the race start.
3)The lowest-ranked driver who finishes the race under power (unless all cars finished under power, actually quite common in V8 Supercars)
4) A driver(s) who finished last initially, however post-race disqualifications usurped the spot.
5) A driver(s) who may be catagorised as finishing last for exhibition events (I may bring these back at some point in the near future, I need more accurate numbers for the events before I start them up again)
6) Anything in non-V8 Supercar Main game (again, insufficent historical data)
7) A driver who was running last when the checkered flag fell, however because they greeted the checkered flag but a drive who was in front of them at the end of the race, however was not running at the end of the race. In that instance the driver who doesn't finish the race will fall behind the driver whom is still running at the end of the race.

In the rare event where official results or a preponderance of unofficial results are later updated with more accurate information about who was the LPF for that event, Australian V8 LASTCAR rankings and statistics shall be updated to reflect that change.
