Cameron Waters picked up his 2nd last-place finish of his
career when his #6 Monster Energy Ford was involved in a two-car crash that
ended his race after 15 of the race's 53 laps. The finish came in Waters’ 62nd
start.
Alex Davison in the #3 Gemini/Repair Management Australia
Holden started the race in the rear, however a bad start left Tim Blanchard in
the #21 Cooldrive Distribution Holden last. By turn 2 Alex Rullo in the #62
Castrol/Repair Management Holden fell to last. By turn 7 Alex Davison had
fallen to last. David Reynolds in the #9 Penrite Holden fell to last after a
tire failure on lap 3, barely staying on the lead lap.
Dale Wood in the #99 GB Galvanizing/ADVAN Holden had a tire
failure on lap 9, dropping him to last as he limped into the pitlane,
Cameron Waters in the #6 Monster Energy Ford was spun out by
Alex Rullo in the #62 Repair Management/Castrol Holden at turn 4 on lap 16.
damaging the left-rear Suspension on Waters car. Additional contact shortly afterwards
caused severe damage to the front of Rullo's car, also sending Rullo to the
garage, eventually ending both their races.
Rounding out the bottom five was Craig Lowndes in the #888
Caltex Vortex Holden after mid-race engine issues, Simona De Silvestro in the
#78 Harvey Norman Nissan after a pit-lane penalty for a pit lane limiter
violation and Dale Wood in the #99 GB Galvanizing/ADVAN Holden.
